11 - 08 - 2013 Commissioners talk budget, sans tax increase; SEDA-COG purchase
[LS] - Last night the Mifflin Co. Commissioners voted to keep things on an even keel for next year's budget & not increase taxes. The $23.6 million budget will remain on display today at the courthouse until its adoption on Dec. 5. After addressing the new year's budget, the commissioners then approved SEDA-COG's Joint Rail Authority request to buy over 19 acres of land adjacent to Standard Steel for a $66,000 price tag. Included in that price was back taxes & liens placed against the property. The land, formerly known as the "North Yards," will be used for future development by the Juniata Valley Railroad.
