11 - 11 - 2013 Milroy Veterans Memorial officially dedicated Saturday
[LS] - Saturday, the residents of one Mifflin Co. community saw the culmination of years of work & planning when the Milroy Veterans Memorial was dedicated in a half-hour ceremony along Hill St., just off old US Rt. 322. The coordinator, Ret. U.S. Marine Master Sergeant Terry Wade, credited the local community for the success of the project. The 31-yr. Marine Veteran told the Lewistown Sentinel that the memorial "came about from a few non-veterans from the local area. No taxpayer money or federal grants funded the memorial. It came from donations," adding that it was a wonderful way to honor veterans past and present. One highlight of the event was recognizing Earl Pecht and Tony Sininskie as Mifflin Co.'s oldest Vets, both at 98-y/o.
