12 - 04 - 2013 Double-fatality near Potters Mills, kills 2 from Mifflin Co.
[CDT] - Early yesterday morning, 2 people were killed in a traffic accident on state Rt. 144 in Potter Twp.,Centre Co., that closed the road for about 3 hours. Centre County Chief Deputy Coroner Judy Pleskonko pronounced 25-y/o Roger Kennedy Jr., of Lewistown, and 50-y/o Terry Bitner of Belleville, dead at the scene, according to Centre Co. Coroner Scott Sayers. State police said the crash near Tucker Road occurred at about 7am when Kennedy's northbound car tried to pass another in heavy fog. The passing car then hit Bitner's southbound vehicle head on. The collision killed both motorists, who were driving alone. PennDOT closed the roadway in both directions between US 322 in Potters Mills and state Rt. 45 in Old Fort while emergency personnel were on the scene and traffic was being diverted. Police reopened the road at about 10am.
