12 - 05 - 2013 The 17th Annual Ice Festival kicks off today
Juniata Valley folks will have a mild start to the annual Festival of Ice that starts today in downtown Lewistown. Instead of catching snowflakes on their tongues, they'll be dodging raindrops. Nevertheless, folks will many changes to this yearâs Festival of Ice with the biggest change being the layout of the event. All activity will be centered around Monument Square and three of the four blocks that radiate from it. The First Night State College Ice Sculptors will wow the crowds with be building The Glacier Sliding Board that is sponsored by Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital. The Festival kicks off with a mini parade that includes participants of all ages starting at St. Johnâs Lutheran Church beginning at 6PM. Included in the activities will be a coffee café & caroling around the Square, however <font color="red"><b>due to the rainy weather the Annual Old Fashioned Carriage Rides for tonight at 6-8pm and tomorrow from 5-7pm have been cancelled.
