12 - 05 - 2013 Selinsgrove teenager accused of killing Port Treverton man
[CCN] - An 18-y/o Selinsgrove teenager is accused of fatally stabbing a Port Trevorton man last month. Miranda Barbour is facing charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault and related charges for the death of 42-y/o Troy LaFerrara. Barbour initially claimed she didn't know LaFerrara but then went to the Selinsgrove State Police barracks and told investigators she met LaFerrara on Craigslist. They arranged to meet in the parking lot of the Susquehanna Valley Mall November 11th. LaFerrara got into Barbourâs vehicle on that night and they drove to Sunbury. Barbour told investigators LaFerrara told her to pull over and began to touch her inappropriately. Barbour also claims LaFerrara had his hands around her throat. She says she reached in between the seat of her car, got a knife and began to stab LaFerrara. Barbour says she then drove around Sunbury and eventually dumped LaFerraraâs body outside, took his wallet and drove away. Barbour says she bought items to get the blood out of her vehicle and then went to Harrisburg to celebrate her husband's birthday. She says she recently threw the knife in the Susquehanna River. LaFerraraâs body was found found behind a Catawissa Avenue residence on the morning of November 12th. An autopsy showed he was stabbed approximately 20 times.
