12 - 19 - 2013 Accused Minit Mart robbers waive hearings in court
Bail was set at $35,000 each against 2 men, charged with robbing the Mount Union Nittany Minit Mart, as 19-y/o Dwayne Scott Smith of Mount Union & 20-y/o Ridge Ryen Rhodes of McVeytown waived their preliminary hearing yesterday. The pair reportedly jumped the counter at the business, threatening the clerk with what he believed was a handgun, at the convenience store in Wayne Twp. just before midnight Friday. Smith and Rhodes were taken into custody after police confronted the men at a Mt. Union residence after identifying them through surveillance video. Mifflin County Correctional Facility reports that yesterday Smith was released from incarceration but Rhodes is still being held. It's expected that both men will also waive their formal arraignments in the Mifflin Co. Court of Common Pleas.
