01 - 03 - 2014 First snow in 2014 interrupting travel, school, & work.
[CDT] - The first snowstorm of the new year didnât wait but a day into the new year before sweeping across the Juniata Valley and much of the Northeast. Many schools closed early yesterday because of the snowstorm that began at about noon yesterday. With the coldest Arctic blast of the winter, the snow and frigid temperatures are packing a double punch. Juniata Co. & Greenwood School Districts all have 2-hr. delays this morning as with Penns Valley & other Centre Co. schools. Mifflin Co., Midd-West, & Mt. Union Schools all have closed today. By Sunday, rain & ice are a possibility with another blast of frigid Arctic air in store for Monday night that could see temps plummet to below zero.
