01 - 07 - 2014 Snyder Co. Dad faces charges on infant assault
[DI] - A Selinsgrove man accused of severely injuring his 4-month-old son in October will remain in the Snyder Co. Jail in lieu of $1 million bail on attempted homicide, aggravated assault and related charges as the case heads to trial. District Judge John Reed ruled yesterday there was sufficient evidence to transfer the charges against 29-y/o Mahmoud Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim to the county Court of Common Pleas following an 80-minute preliminary hearing. At the hearing, a paramedic testified that the infant was unable to breath on his own and Ibrahim informed him the child had choked during a bottle feeding, adding that “The story remained consistent”. A doctor specializing in child abuse cases examined Ali a day later and disputed Ibrahim’s version & that the child had suffered a brain injury, numerous retinal hemorrhages and a rib and wrist fractures.
