01 - 16 - 2014 Proposed Brown Twp. Asphalt Plant Still Draws Concern
[LS] - The CEO of a contractor that is acting as a holding company for a proposed asphalt plant in Brown Twp. faced questions & concerns from Mifflin Co. residents last night at the Dutch Country Inn. Dan Hawbaker, president and CEO of Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. & speaking on behalf of Center Lime and Stone, kicked off 2 days of the hearings over the proposed asphalt plant on Three Cent Road, Reedsville. Hawbaker said a natural gas line running under the proposed location would help reduce the operating cost of the plant. He also said having a gas line installed at the current Brown Twp. plant would be more expensive and involves a higher risk. Other residents continued to voice concerns & ask questions in the hearing that is scheduled to continue tonight at 6pm.
