01 - 17 - 2014 More details explained in 2nd day of asphalt plant hearings
[LS] - More questions were answered & details spelled out last night in a 2nd day of hearings,at the Dutch Country Inn in Reedsville, for a proposed asphalt plant on Three Cent Lane in Brown Twp. Residents were concerned about truck traffic & light pollution from the facility. Bruce Kirkpatrick, a Civil Engineer and vice president of Glenn Hawbaker Engineering, explained how the plant would be laid out. He said a prior zoning request was rejected by the township supervisors to build an access road would connect with Carriage House Lane. A new proposal would place the access road intersecting behind the trucking company with Three Cent Road. Kirkpatrick also said shoebox lighting fixtures would be used around the plant to cut down on the amount of light from spreading into residential zoning. The next hearing is Feb. 13 before the township Zoning Board.
