01 - 23 - 2014 Derry Twp. man causes 5 car collision in downtown Lewistown
Yesterday afternoon, 3 people were taken to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital after a crash involving 5 vehicles occurred at the S. Main & Charles St. intersection. Lewistown Police were called to the scene just before 2:30pm & determined that 52-y/o Jerry Lee Hetrick of Derry Twp. had ran a red light on S. Main. Hetrick collided with 3 other vehicles that were waiting for the red light in the northbound lane. After the collision, Hetrick then backed up his vehicle through the intersection & into a 4th vehicle that was in the roadway. Police said after striking the 4th vehicle, Hetrick then accelerated west on Charles St., crossing Main St. & jumping the curb before he crashed into a barbeque business where he then hit a 5th vehicle that was parked on the business property. Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
