01 - 24 - 2014 Preliminiary 2014-15 budget approved for MCSD board
[LS] - The Mifflin County School Board approved the school district's 2014-15 annual budget last night without any discussion on the matter. This will now allow the district to move ahead with the $69.8 million plan that will include the district's contribution to the state retirement system. This could mean for a possible tax increase of no more than 2.5 mils. Superintendent James Estep emphasised that the tax increase potential, "doesn't mean it will actually turn out that way," adding that some expenses might change in size and scope. Should this be the case Estep said, "we hope it doesn't change in the wrong direction and we don't need the 2 and a half mills. Our goal administratively is not to go to that."
