01 - 28 - 2014 Mifflinburg teen to be tried as adult after firing on police
[DI] - A Mifflinburg teen is being held without bail in Franklin Co. after being charged with shooting at a state trooper and other crimes following an a traffic stop on I-81 Sunday. Police have charged 16-y/o Sean Patrick Sellers as an adult and he was arraigned late Sunday night with a preliminary hearing to be scheduled for next week. Because heâs charged as an adult, Sellerâs case will move through the common pleas court system in Franklin Co. The shooting happened about 7am Sunday when a Chambersburg state trooper pulled over Sellerâs car, which was not traveling within its lane on southbound I-81. As the trooper approached the car, Sellers allegedly pulled a .22-caliber pistol and fired at the trooper. The trooper took cover behind the vehicle, and he and Sellers exchanged gunfire before Sellers tossed the gun out the window and surrendered. Other state troopers had arrived on the scene at the time. Neither Sellers nor the trooper were injured.
