02 - 05 - 2014 Preliminary budget discussions continue at JCSD
[LS] - The issue of adding 3 librarians to the elementary school was the topic of discussion last night at the Juniata Co. School Board of Directors meeting. This was in connection to the 2014-15 preliminary budget for the upcoming school year. Elementary principals told the board that many of the key elements needed for the high schools and middle schools are not being taught at a young age so bad habits are sticking with the students. Amy Wagner, one of the board members, said that the librarians "would be more like media specialists," adding that "They would be helping the kids to learn how to properly type on a keyboard, help them to remember login credentials." Wagner and the elementary principals agreed that this position would help save time being wasted in the other schools.
