02 - 11 - 2014 Fire & police departments give good news to Borough Council
[LS] - Last night, Bob Barlett, interim fire chief, along with William Herkert, Lewistown Police Department chief, were bearers of good news to the Lewistown Borough Council. During the council's monthly meeting, Barlett told the board of the intention to begin fire inspections, which have not occurred in the borough over the past 15 years. He said that he had been working with the code enforcement officer, Rex Fink, on how to begin the inspections again. Herkert informed that the efforts to discourage underage drinking are underway with posters being displayed & billboards being unveiled. He said this was just the first of three phases that the grant money, provided by the PLCB, helps to fund.
