02 - 21 - 2014 MCSD students will not have longer school year this year
[LS] - Last night at the Mifflin County School District's Thursday workshop meeting, superintendent James Estep assured the members that the school calendar is right on schedule. Estep said that in spite of the missed school days due to the winter weather, "As of right now, the calendar looks to be having school end by June 5." Easter Monday was requested to be used as a make-up day & that will be decided upon at the board's meeting on Feb. 27. Board member Annemarie Swineford questioned taking that day off & suggested adding an hour to each day's schedule. Estep said for that to occur, collective bargaining agreements would have to be considered & expressed doubt that it would be logistically possible.
