[LS] - A former Sunbury firefighter & his brother was arrested yesterday on charges they stole more than $3,000 from a city fire department. Police have charged 47-y/o Rick Sinko, of Northumberland, who was arraigned after police conducted a nearly 2-year investigation into accusations he had pilfered money from the Rescue Hose Fire Company, where he served as treasurer. Sinko was instrumental in saving September 2011 flood victims while he served as a volunteer firefighter for more than 3 decades. He was among members of the Sunbury Water Rescue Team honored by former Sunbury Fire Chief for its efforts during the 2011 flood. He has repeatedly denied the allegations.
