03 - 28 - 2014 Community Action Group speaks out on wind turbines
[LS] - Last night's business meeting of the Mifflin County Commissioners had representatives of the group "Friends of Jack's Mountain" who presented overall unfavorable results from surveys that were taken from residents in the affected areas over the proposed wind turbines planned for Jack's Mountain in Mifflin Co. and Stone Mountain in Huntingdon Co. Cindy Harvey, along with area resident Don Chesney, told the commissioners they formed a community action group "to educate the community about turbines and to work closely with townships to pass ordinances and regulations". Commissioner Mark Sunderland said the most important thing the group can do would be to go through local government to request ordinances restricting the turbines and/or regulate them tightly.
