04 - 03 - 2014 Selinsgrove dad loses battle to finish treehouse for daughter
[DI] - After a yearlong ordeal, a partially built tree house on John âJ.C.â Carlsonâs front lawn will be dismantled in the next few weeks. Carlson received a notice this week informing him that he has 30 days to remove the 8-foot by 6-foot wooden structure he began building in May on a tree stump in his front yard as a birthday gift for his 11-year-old daughter, Samantha. The dispute began after getting a letter last May informing him that the tree house was located too close to the road and violated the boroughâs zoning laws. Carlson said he had no idea he needed a permit for the tree house or that there were restrictions on what he could build on his property.
