04 - 11 - 2014 School districts re-examine security after recent stabbings
Reacting to the Pittsburgh-area tragedy where a troubled teen went on a stabbing rampage, superintendents in our area are looking more closely at safety on their campuses. The Mifflinburg Area School District Superintendent said that the district policy allows students to use backpacks, generally only for use to and from school, but generally not through the school day. With school districts more wary of security, the public is reminded that knives are forbidden anywhere on school property. School security is tight at Bellefonte High School with all visitors must show a valid I.D. and check in before entering the building.
