04 - 15 - 2014 Midd-West School District suspends acting superintendent
[DI] - The Midd-West school board announced last night that acting Superintendent Daphne Snook has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of a criminal investigation into a breach in the districtâs email system. The school board President, Victor Abate, informed the crowd of some 150 faculty, staff and residents who confronted the board about these ongoing controversies. He said that the breach was discovered by accident and then the Snyder Co. DA, Michael Piecuch, was notified. Piecuch then referred the complaint to Middleburg police for investigation. Snook, while baffled about the criminal investigation, did admit to briefly monitoring board email correspondence saying that is allowed under the districtâs acceptable use policy. Jim Buckheit, executive director of the PA School Boards Association, said it is not unusual for superintendents to monitor Internet use to make sure the technology is being used properly.
